This safe does the job better than a metal box you can buy a Home Depot. The metal casing is thin but the door is very heavy with most of the safe's weight. It is more of a lock box than a true safe. Actually you never have to even use the key pad combo as the keys always work. The materials and workmanship are are medium to low quality. I just removed the "Made in China" sticker from the bottom. There is evidence of cheap, shoddy workmanship throughout. Such as the Honeywell emblem on the front being crocked! The small shelf bracket is useless. The cloth strip meant to cushion the door doesn't even cover its entire length and is cut uneven. There is also a square piece of cushioning that is supposed to stick to the bottom of the safe that looks like it was cut out by a first grader with ADD. When you take the factory sticker off of the handle you are left with a sticky mess that will not come off. All said it is useful as a lock box and has holes drilled to secure it to the bottom of a drawer. For the price though I am slightly disappointed with the overall quality and workmanship.

The Bad:

Saw this on another website when looking for a portable gun safe.It works for a small frame revolver or a sub-compact auto. But that's it.Before you buy, measure and include the grip, most manufacturers only measure the slide on their autos. So if rely on what they say you might come up short.



The Good:

Seems to be built well. Large enough for my check book, camera, cell phone, wallet, and a small gps. My truck does not have a locking glove box or center console, so this works great.



Conclusion:

If it were 1 1/2 inch longer and 1 inch wider it work for most compact autos as a gun safe.

In fact, it kind of rattled a tiny bit when I first picked it up, but stopped after I opened it and closed it again. I would suggest putting soft things like money in it because if you put jewelry and stuff in it it will definitely rattle.



Otherwise, if you're just randomly moving around objects and this happens to be one of them, you'd never know it wasn't real!

Well I like it. Arrived in 5 days after I ordered it here on Amazon. Fedex delivered the safe and put in my garage for me. I unboxed it and had my son help my carry it to my territory (the basement). Over all the safe is heavy duty, the electronic lock works great, you can pick your own combination. I have 3 rfles and 4 hanguns and a lot of ammo in there. The door is heavy and cabinet will tip forward when opened. You will need to either mount to floor or wall, nice heavy duty mounting screws do come with it, or you could put alot of weight in the bottom of the cabinet. I mounted mine to the wall. Hey for $329 and free shipping, I feel like I got a good deal. I'm very satisfied.

This safe is excellent value for the price. It's not a fire safe like it's larger and more expensive brethren but it does the job. It appears sturdy and feels more secure than a gun cabinet. It says it's for 10 guns but closing the door would be trouble if you were using all of the gun holders. I would only put 6-8 max in here, but for most people buying a safe at this price that should be sufficient. I bought this because I live in an apartment and I need something that can be carried by two people (empty). Shipping was easy, with yellow dock delivering to my door, just be aware they will not carry it up stairs so you need to have someone with you when it arrives to carry it if you live above ground floor.

I ordered this safe twice. Both times I received it damaged. First order the finish on the outside was scratched off and the inside of the safe was scratched due to the steel shelfs that were not secured. Second order the bottom corners were bent and the finish was also scratched off. I would be VERY cautious when ordering this item due to the Stack-On Company not packaging this heavy steel safe well.



Note: If the safe was not damaged, I think it would have worked well. As a side note, the middle shelf space is taken up due to the locking device.

Good for the price. This safe is not sold as a high-security bank vault, and that is not what you're getting. What you do get is an inexpensive, well-hidden safety box for valuables. The key lock, as I said, is not impenetrable, as neither is the door, but the cost stands for the product. If no one knows it's there, it can't be broken into. I simply hid mine behind a picture, and it was hidden beautifully. It was fairly simple to install, though the hardware supplied with it was inadequate because of the type of construction, so I needed to replace the mounting screws. All in all though, it's a great deal for the money, so long as you aren't wanting an elaborate combination lock or a place to store The Hope Diamond.

I read all the other reviews before buying this and decided to take the chance and go for it. I wouldn't call this a gun SAFE, but rather a well-built gun CABINET.



I'll be using this to hold a scoped rifle, a shotgun, and ammo for both as well as my handgun ammo. The space will be more than adequate for this and probably hold another rifle/shotgun or two more.



It is true that it's on the small side: 4'7" ft. tall and 1 foot square. The one and only shelf is quite small, but adding another is no big deal. It has a keyed lock which I actually prefer to a combination.



While other reviewers said theirs arrived in less than perfect condition, mine was great (delivered by FedEx - if that makes a difference). The box showed some wear, but the cabinet was fine. To those who said it was flimsily built, I beg to differ. I found it actually to be BETTER built than I anticipated from these reviews, and feel it is more than adequate - once secured to the floor and/or wall, to keep anyone out.



Again, this is NOT a safe; it is a sturdy CABINET with safe-style bolts on a key lock. If you are looking for something fireproof, this won't do it. If, however, you want a low-cost way to safely secure your firearms, this will work nicely.



I didn't want to spend $1,000+ on an elaborate, huge gun safe; I wanted something affordable and secure. This is it. Recommended.

I ordered this gun safe specifically for my bed room closet, so I could have my carry guns close at hand as well as a couple of my "personal defense" shotguns too, which up to now, are kept in a "fire proof", gun safe in my garage. I received the safe quickly, and it was not damaged. I also have a "Stack-On" drawer safe that holds two guns with a electronic combination lock and lifts up to open, that up to now, I kept in my bedside table. I attached this safe to the top of the Sentry gun safe, which I might add, was a perfect fit, and installed both in my closet, just inside the door. When I lock up this gun safe, I simply put the key to it in the drawer safe bolted on top and everything is secured, but yet I can have a gun in my hand in a matter of seconds and not have to worrying about loading first, or removing trigger locks. I am very well satisfied with this gun safe, especially considering the price I paid for it compared to others, and finding one that fits in the closet underneath the rod that you hang your clothes on too which is very hard to do. Yes, it is not fire proof, but I didn't buy it for this reason, I bought it for having my guns locked up to make it hard for someone to get to, should there be a break in and I'm not at home, but yet easily accessible to me when needed. It's secured both to the wall and floor with lag bolts, so it's there for the long term. As I stated before, I feel that for the amount of money I spent, I received a quality product, I feel that it's made solid enough to make it hard for anyone to try and get into it without a lot of effort. I definitely recommend this gun safe it you're looking for one for the same reason I was, or if you just have a few guns that you want to keep in a safe place, locked up away from kids, etc.

I read the reviews about the Sentry Gun Safe before I ordered one.

Mine came in without a key and in a shabby box.

I was so angry but have always had good results with Amazon.

I contacted customer service and within about 72 hours had a

brand new replacement and the bad one was picked up at no extra charge.

I really like the product it suits my needs well.

It is only about 70-80 lbs empty. With all of my ammo and eguipment stowed away

though it is well over 200lbs so even not bolted down very hard to pick up

and run down the stairs with it. I feel my guns and ammo are well secured along

with my two dogs,iron gate and alarm system.
