I ordered this safe after a disappointing experience with another brand of wall safe. The AMSEC safe is a much better, more refined product and included all of the necessary hardware to mount the safe. I had perhaps a 1/4" less clearance between the studs than normal and it took a bit of muscle (2 of us) but we made it and the installation looks great. Very easy to program and use. I highly recommend this product.

Very strong and thick built safe. A little harder than expected on the install even with new construction and two people. check the safe before takeing deliverly, expect so damage to the box and hopefully not the safe. This is the second safe I order. The first a different brand and company arrived in bad shape. This one arrived with some package damage but the safe was o.k. Just the nature because of the weight.

 "Questionable design with poor custumer service" 2008-12-29

I purchased this cabinet to hold 4 rifles. One is a Mini 14 so I had to mount the barrel holder lower then shown in the photo. I received the cabinet almost 10 days earlier then promised. This was a good surprise. The bad surprise was the cabinet was locked and there were no keys to be found. The cabinet was in otherwise good shape.



I called customer service and they sent a key based on the key code found on the cylinder of the locks. I opened the locks (both were fully locked) and found no keys inside. Since it was Christmas weekend and I had time, I installed the cabinet (installing the foam backing is ridiculous). After installation, when I went to close the door with the 2 trays installed, it did not close. The trays were hitting the barrel holders that i had to mount lower to fit the Mini-14. Putting any rifles with thick barrels in 3 of the 6 postions were not a option. the trays are fixed in 2 postions.



This cabinet fits about 4 rifles at best unless they are narrow breech load shotguns.



The photo is misleading when you think it has a shelf on top. In reality, it is a piece of sheet metal that is just deep enough to hold a 20 count box of 30-06 ammo. The back of the sheet metal has a lip so the box does not slide off the back and fall onto the rifles. It can not old anything more then a few boxes of ammo. One of my rifles is a M-1 and it does not come near the bottom of that "shelf" so clearance should not be a issue for most rifles.



When informed of these items, Homak customer service told me they do not send out more then one key and a second key would be $20 dollars. When I told the supervisor that I never received the first set of keys, she told me I could be lying so they charge for the second key. I found her tone insulting. When I told her I plan to return the cabinet, she told me to do whatever I want but don't return it to her since I bought it through Amazon.



If I am able to ship this back, I will. I would defiantly not purchase another item from this company.

I bought this safe for my long guns and it's definitely adequate for the purpose of keeping my guns safe from the kids. The double key lock is very secure and the construction of the locker (it's really a locker not a "safe") is very sturdy as is the mounting hardware for the wall. The fit for my 28" barrel 12 gauge is very tight. I have to tilt it diagonally to fit the barrel under the metal shelf that's fitted at the top of the unit. After that it rests nicely in the barrel bracket. My biggest complaint with assembly was the foam padding. This padding, designed to keep my guns from getting scratched had some kind of industrial glue on the back and it would have looked comical for someone to watch me try to install it as it stuck to my fingers and everything it touched (think a fly caught in fly paper). I'd recommend the manufacturer just install the foam instead of trusting a knucklehead like me to do it. If you buy this, just get some double stick tape from Home Depot and adhere the foam with it rather than peeling off the foam backing. Trust me.

pre-glue foam pads are very sticky. Once applied to the cabinet, it's very difficult to remove those pads from inside the cabinet.

I cannot open his safe. Yes, I have the keys! I have turned the keys every which way, kept the keys in the lock, removed them from the lock, nothing I do works. The latch that is supposed to release the lock will not budge. I have important documents in there that I need and cannot access. I saw a reviewer with the exact same issue on another site. The first one I bought had the keys locked inside which should have been my hint. But I got another and this thing is really not well made or designed. The hinge on top is very weak, when you open it you can see the plastic around the hinge starting to bend and it looks and feels like it is about to separate if you push it a little bit. I didn't try my luck and held onto it to make sure the lid didn't flop down and fall off. And despite the claim that it is designed to hold hanging files it does not. The opening is too narrow, you had to twist the folders to get them to go in. (NOT the 12 inches they claim I measured mine at around 11 1/2 inches.) And it is not deep enough either. the folders drag on the bottom and did not hang off the sides like they are supposed to. I tried 3 different brands of folders and none of them fit so I know it isn't just the folders I had.



Maybe I will try the FIrst Alert brand one, it has to be better than this.

This wall safe is very strong and easy to install. The digital keypad to open it is very convenient. Sure, it is a wall safe so it doesnt have a ton of space, but a relatively good size for a wallsafe. Good price at Amazon. I went to Lowe's and bought some big bolts that I preferred to the ones they shipped with. Due to my location in the wall I needed to put another supporting stud because my studs are further than 16" apart - but this is no fault of the product, just the way my home was built. I highly recommend the product and am going to buy another!

Secure enough, with easy installation. Be aware, the inside lock mechanism housing takes up a lot of space (essentially the full width of the door, the middle third of the height, and 1/2 the depth of the interior space). With about 3" full interior depth, this leaves about 1.5" available depth in the middle 1/3 (vertically) of the unit. This may not be a problem, depending on what you're putting in it. For something like a 1" thick book (something with length and width), you can't get more than 1 in the thing.
