 "safe review" 2009-09-08
By lenny cassalino (Southern Cal)
Safe is perfect for my needs. Not necessarily for

valubles. Files fit perfectly (taxes, passport,SS info, etc and other paperwork) There is a issue with some of the insulation (?) from the construction coming from somewhere on the inside. Not sure if this is cement or what that comes out each time I close the lid. Maybe it was dropped (?). I would purchase this again for the price and construction. Not sure how it would be to go through a fire. Looks like the contents would survive a fire but probably not the case lock which is a heavy duty plastic. A good value for the price and perfect for what I need it for.

"it is what it is.." 2009-09-01
By patl (illinois)
I like the storage space and the fact that it will protect in case of water or fire damage. The lock is plastic covering so it is not the that secure it will only slow down someone for a minute who really wants to get into it, so I'll just have to hide it well other than that I'm satisfied with it.

"You get what you pay for..." 2009-06-23
By T. Davison (East Coast, USA)
The safe is nothing but a fireproof box. It should work okay for that purpose unless the plastic handle melts and the lid pops open and your contents burn up. The security part is a joke. Anyone with a large screwdriver can pop the plastic handle off and open the box. I am really weary of breaking the handle mechanism which acts as the lock assembly. The handle and locking assembly is cheap plastic. Now, if they made the handle and locking mechanism out of metal, I'd pay $10 more to know I had a better product. You get what you pay for...

 "Poor Quality Safe" 2008-09-15
By M. Kane (Norfolk, VA USA)
This safe is of very poor quality. I purchased one from a big box chain and I am returning it. The "security" is laughable, since the locking mechanism consists of the shiny, thin, silver plastic handle that you see on the front in the pictures spanning the gap between a plastic hinge at the top and a lock that would make an old suitcase lock look like a vault. The plastic dose not inspire confidence, except that if you lost the key, you could break into the safe using a hammer or maybe a pocket knife on the plastic handle. I also have doubts about whether the handle, which I must stress is the only thing keeping the lid closed, could survive the 1550 degree Fahrenheit fire they say the safe can withstand.

 "Disappointing" 2008-02-05
By April Snow
I bought one of these from a local store and had to return it. The features listed on the box were very promising (media storage, big enough for hanging files, etc.), but the craftsmanship of the actual safe was disappointing. The lock was poorly designed and did not stay locked--the one I had could be unlocked without the key just by turning the lock slightly. The label was glued on crooked and the black plastic part had excess glue along the seam. The whole thing just did not inspire confidence.
