This product seemed to be well made at first, shortly after reprograming the combination I found out the door would not always open on the first try, sometimes not at all untill I used the back up key. Definatly not a good situation if being used for a defensive handgun as I intended. I also realized that if you shut the door a little too hard, the batteries fall out and you then have to use the back up key. So much for electric combinations.

I like it except for the flimsy and inadequate battery cover. If you close it firmly a few times, the weight of the batteries pushes the battery cover off of the inside of the cover, then the batteries lose their connection and the buttons quit working, forcing you to use the key. Poor design of this part. If the battery cover was strong enough to hold the batteries in place, I would have given it a 5. Guess I could make my own cover, but I shouldn't have to. And when you are depending on it for quick access, you don't need it to fail.

We use this safe for a handgun and liked it so well we ordered another one for another room in our house. Plenty of room for a handgun and a second clip. I like the fact that you can silence the combination buttons. Easy to install and doesn't take up much room. Works well for the purpose intended.

This low-profile safe is designed primarily for holding handguns. However, you can use it for just about anything else (e.g., jewelry, medication, etc.). It uses four AA batteries for keypad use (key "beep" sounds are on by default, but this can be turned off). It also includes 2 keys for access, in case the batteries run down before you change them (a red light will warn you when batteries are low). One of the really nice features about this safe is the keypad security: if you enter the combo incorrectly three times, you get locked out for 30 seconds. Enter the combo three more times incorrectly, and you get locked out for 5 minutes. If you're depending on this safe for quick access to your pistol, be sure you enter your combo correctly within three tries.
The safe can be mounted with or without a mounting plate. The mounting place is nice when you're planning to take the safe with you (e.g., traveling in your car). If you don't plan on taking it anywhere, I'd recommend just bolting it down (by using the 4 holes on the bottom, or top-mounting via the 4 holes on the top). Although the safe comes with mounting hardware (screws and nuts), I found the screws too short, plus, I prefer one-way security screws and security nuts (purchased at local hardware store).
The safe is also approved by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for meeting certain safety specs. Highly recommended.

I would have given it 5 starts , but the mount that it can be released from is kinda pointless. Thats the only design flaw. I have mine mounted to a very heavy nightstand . The safe sits bed level ( top ) between my nightstand and bed. Gives my quick access to my .45s. could be a little wider so an adult hand can fit in it easier
