 "Good safe - BUT" 2010-05-22

I like the safe. The built in handle and wheels are great for moving the safe around and there is part of the problem. The safe does NOT have any provisions for bolting it in place. Yes you can remove the handles but still at 145 lbs (that is what the manuf. says it weighs) it isn't that hard for a thief or two to pop it onto a piece of carpet or heavy material and slid the thing out. I would have appreciated other reviewers commenting that the safe could not be bolted down. I would have bought a different safe.

"Safe delivered broken (plastic wheels was crashed). Then almost 3 weeks Amazon couldn't organize delivering back. Then amazon didnt return completely money back. Almost $50 for delivery they didnt return. Then Amazon gave me $20 gift card but still didnt return all money back and asked me to remove my negative feedback. Definitely this is problem with Honeywell safe. Amazon has tried to do the best. I recommend to everybody never buy this safe and never buy from amazon heavy staff. You will have hassle. "

I am very pleased with the Honeywell Safe, it is much better than I thought it would be. It is very easy to open and close. It is perfect for in home use. I highly reccommend it to anyone interested in a Safe.

 "Only O.K." 2010-01-12

Not a bad safe, but I found the initial programming infuriating. I consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable with most things electronic, but the instructions for programming the combination that came with my safe were just flat wrong. The instruction tell you to push in the combination reset button, then enter the new code twice. I did this over and over and over and over. Would not accept new code. After a couple of tries it would lock the mechanism requiring me to wait 15 minutes before trying again. I was just about to throw the thing through the window (no small feat) and I decided to try something different: Enter the preset code FIRST, then press the rest button, then the new code twice and...it works! Only problem is, the manual never says anything about entering the old code first (major GRRRRRR). There are several other errors in the manual (like saying the preset code is 159, but it's actually *159, and telling you the new password must be between 3-8 numbers long, then showing 2 numbers minimum in their graphic) I sent an email to Honeywell about the wrong and confusing directions...no response. Bad, bad, bad.

One other thing I really think is poorly done is the cheesy plastic cover that you have to lift up every time you enter the combination. It is beyond cheap, and makes a loud "snap" noise every time you flip it open. It will clearly not be very long before it cracks and falls off.

And one final thing you just gotta love: I went to [...] tonight to download the manual. Website no longer exists. No message, no forward, nothing. Went to Honeywell's main website, and there is nothing mentioning anything about safes anywhere. I finally found out through extensive googling that Honeywell safes are now sold by First Alert! I went to First Alert's website and was able to download the manual (which still has all of the above errors, by the way). But Honeywell must have about the worst customer service I have ever heard of - they sell a product line to another company, and then shut down the website and act like it never existed!!

After all of that complaining, I will say it is a decent safe (except for the cheap plastic cover on the keypad), but there are much better ones on the market for about the same price.

 "Solid and uncomplicated" 2009-12-15

I believe this product was everything I expected it to be when it arrived. It was a decent weight. And with the addition of some coins I'm putting in there, I think it will be pretty difficult to carry away if someone were to break into the house.

One feature I could live without was this handle that raised so you could roll it like a suitcase. Yes, it might be difficult to move around...but isn't that sort of the point? If someone can carry it away and try to break into it on their own time, that would defeat the purpose.

But otherwise, good size, versatile...easy to get into. I'm happy.
